Our goal for the Adopt-A-River/Lexus Eco Challenge is to get at least 40 people to adopt the river. Right now we only have 6, and we have only two weeks. If anyone is interested, its not that hard. You simply walk down to your section of the river, pulls weeds pick up trash, and bring a garbage bag to dump all the trash in and then throw it away in a dumpster, or even just put it next to a trash can. You only need to go down about once a month and if you help you can even put an advertisement or sign in your building saying you adopted part of the river. If you don’t think you would have the time to go down to the river once a month, you can simply sign an agreement saying you will send a monetary donation. Anything and everything is welcome. For more information, please contact our science teacher, Mrs. Patty. Karbon, at pkarban@stjoemish.com Thank you for your contribution.
Sincerely,
St. Joseph, Mishawaka

Today we went to Beardsley School to put on a performance. We had people who did singing, a slide show, a rap, skits, guitar solo, music, speeches, poems, and we even had a class talk about the history of the river. One of the skits even included audience participation. The slide show showed pictures of the river, and the speeches talked about the importance of adopting the river. The rap talked about the need to go clean up and around the river. Thank you Beardsley for letting us come to your school, and we hope you liked it.

Hey! St. Joe school wants you to participate in the Saint Joseph River project. Our 8th grade class went to Saint Joseph River in Mishawaka, Indiana and learned about adopting a part of the river for a clean-up project. When you adopt part of the river, you take time to go to the river a couple times a month, and clean up a little. Our 7th and 8th grade will be going soon to check out the progress. We want you to be a part of the community and help clean up the river! So go on and adopt part of the river, I dare you!

Hey! St. Joesph School here! On October 3, St. Joe was outside the whole day! To start the day off, we had our math class outside! We measured a fence. Then we went to science class and we also had class outside! We talked about the Lexs Eco Challenge. We decided that we would have an assembly at Beardsly’s School. We talked about what kinds of things we’d liked to do to participate. We walked down to Kam’s Island for lunch. It was awesome! We could walk around, talk to our friends, and play ball. I enjoyed the beauty of it. Then after we walked back to our school, and had had an assembly about different animals. We learned about different animals have different habitats. Over all I think it was a fun day! I hope we can do it again next year!
